Sea Kayaking in Newfoundland- South Coast
This area is another fine place to sea kayak in Newfoundland. Last year we paddled in Ramea (an offshore island) and it is a great place to explore with its many islands, coves and bays.

Sea Kayak Ramea- We recently took a trip to Ramea on Newfoundland's South Coast in late June 2005. After a short ferry ride from Burgeo we off loaded at the wharf and headed for Eastern Outdoors who have just opened a sea kayak business here. We stayed in the hostel which is located directly opposite a protected launching point. From there we paddled around the numerous islands and hiked the 4 kilometers of trails on Ramea. Be sure to get up Man of War Hill (the hill in the background) for a grand view of the entire island grouping. Note that Ramea is located well off shore and is particularly prone to a south west swell. So take care and note that some shorelines are rugged so emergency landings may be impossible.
