Marble Mountain near Corner Brook is the largest ski area of the 4 Atlantic Provinces. It is has more than double the vertical (1700 feet) of most areas and has the regions' only high speed detachable quad chairlift. It has 35 runs and many are black diamonds--you are expected to improve quickly at Marble. It also has a large modern lodge with loads of windows facing the hill and the terrain park. Marble often gets good powder skiing and they leave several runs ungroomed for the "pow" enthusiasts. Marble is also taking on an international flavour these days due to visitors from Europe who are staying at nearby Humber Valley Resort. See www.skimarble.com and click MARBLE for more images |

White Hills is located near Clarenville and serves the Eastern Newfoundland market. It has a vertical of 607 feet and has 17 runs. It has a triple chair lift and a new magic carpet for beginners. Carmel Smith, the manager, says the magic carpet has been a big asset for those just learning to snowboard and ski. Long time member Larry Reid showed me the trails and I was very taken with the view and skiing options. Clarenville is just a few kilometers away and you can see to Random Island and beyond.
