Sea Kayaking in the Magdalen Islands, Quebec
We recently did a fabulous trip to the Magdalen Islands which are part of Quebec but are right in Gulf of St Lawrence so it made sense to include them on this web page dealing with sea kayaking in Atlantic Canada. They offer lots of options for sea kayaking and on our short visit we did a couple of trips. We can't wait to return to see more of this fascinating area.

Paddling with Vert et Mer- Magdalen Islands, Quebec We had never been to the Magdalen Islands so didn't know what to expect in terms of sea kayaking. So we were very pleasantly surprised to find very interesting kayaking plus great food and scenery. Our first trip was with Vert et Mer and was a real highlight since we had a nice following wind to help us along the spectacular coastline. We stopped part way along to have a delicious crab dinner with all the fixings. The shoreline has countless sea caves which are carved from the weak rock and we paddled past the largest sea cave in the Magdalens. The setting sun really lit up the brilliant red rocks. Paddling with Parc de Gros Cap- Magdalen Islands, Quebec On our recent trip to the Magdalen Islands we only scheduled 2 days but managed to see much of the islands and get in 2 kayak trips. Our second trip was with Parc de Gros Cap which has a very nice setting over looking the ocean but unfortunately our planned trip had to be readjusted since the winds were gusting to over 50 km/hr!! So we did a down wind trip which went along the main west side of the main island. We paddled into the harbour and saw fishing boats up close and personal and they shoreline alternated between sandy beach and rugged cliffs. I can't wait to return to paddle around Gros-Cap with its amazing sea caves and sea stacks. For more info see www.parcdegroscap.ca and for more pics see Gros Cap |
