Avalanche Update--Western Newfoundland--March 2007.
Please send in info about avalanches that you have seen or been involved with--I am trying to map where these avalanches are occurring and what weather conditions are triggering them. Therefore I need info on exact location (ideally a GPS reference), the rough size of the avalanche in terms of how far it traveled and how wide and when it occurred (if known).
Here are some pictures from the Lewis Hills-from Saturday, March 10, 2007-thanks to Mike McCarthy
Some more shots from Mike McCarthy-this avalanche was huge and occurred in the last few days-Mike and Justin House estimate is was 10-15 feet deep. Location-Lewis Hills. This image posted March 14.
These entries come from Steve Anderson in Gros Morne National Park -- obviously more recent avalanches have occurred there
