We are located in the scenic city of Corner Brook, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada - an area of stunning natural beauty and outdoor adventure. Our students learn the history, theory, and practice of the visual arts in an environment that constantly challenges and inspires. A warm welcome awaits you in our Fine Arts building, where the atmosphere is one of tolerance, comradery, and respect. Our faculty and staff are active professional artists, and our emphasis on small class sizes ensures that each student is given individual attention and guidance. Everyone is on a first-name basis, and you'll find both faculty and fellow students more than willing to introduce you to the area, chat about art, or perhaps arrange an afternoon of downhill skiing. Our four-year program includes courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, digital imaging and art history. We believe that artistic freedom and creative expression require both technical skill and intellectual vision, acquired through a disciplined application of effort and a critical awareness of artistic issues past and present. The workload can be intense, but it is also an enjoyable, memorable experience, and well worth the effort (as our many successful alumni will assure you). Grenfell Campus is the Corner Brook campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland, Atlantic Canada's largest university. With approximately 1100 students, Grenfell's emphasis is on professional excellence in a small class environment. Corner Brook (population 22,000) is a safe and friendly city with excellent recreational and cultural facilities, including nearby Gros Morne National Park, a World Heritage site. Marble Mountain, one of Eastern Canada's premier downhill ski resorts, is also just ten minutes away.
