I have designed this website to offer information and (one hopes) some insight into my career as a composer. Compositions I have provided detailed information about each of my compositions. Most of these works are available from the library of the Canadian Music Centre in Toronto. One can also find there copies of the various CD's on which some of my pieces have been recorded. Each work has its own page on the site. There you can find details about the instrumentation, dates and place of composition, duration of performance, dates and places of the various performances of each piece, details of each commission, awards and reviews. Those wishing to hear recordings of the various public performances of most of these works can contact the Canadian Music Centre or myself. If you contact me for these sample recordings, I can provide what I consider the best of the various performances that each piece has received. This information is indicated on the page devoted to each composition; at the same time I have indicated the relative quality (from my point of view) of these performances (on a scale of Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good and Excellent). Canadian Music Centre The Canadian Music Centre is located at 20 St. Joseph Street in Toronto. A link to the CMC will be found on the page describing each composition for easy access. Biographies I have also provided two bios, one official and the other unofficial. The official biography can be used for programme notes. The unofficial biography is a rather lengthy and personal reflection on my life and career. People have sometimes asked me about how and why certain works were written the way they were. Perhaps these comments may provide some of the answers. Because I am both and academic and a rather unabashed romantic, this unofficial biography is divided into several sections reflecting the various "periods" of my life and career. I hope you enjoy these musings. Awards I have listed the various awards with which my works have been honoured. Performances I have included a year-by-year listing of known past performances and broadcasts of my works. You will also find a list of any upcoming performances. Commissions Here you will find the list of commissions I have received from such organizations as the Canada Council, the Ontario Arts Council, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council. Chronological List of Works Under this heading I have provided (in reverse chronological order) the complete listing of all my works. Works Catalogued by Instrumentation I have also catalogued my works by instrumentation (Flute, Violin, etc.). Under each of the instruments in the table of contents you will find those works which feature that instrument (i.e. In Memoriam for Violin and Piano). Works Catalogued by Ensemble Where appropriate, certain works have been catalogued according to ensemble (i.e. String Quartet, Large Orchestra, Woodwind Quintet).
