Works for Lyric Baritone

I have not had many opportunities to write for male voice. However, my opera The Visitor contained a major role for lyric baritone. The artist who created the role (David Malis) indicated it was one of the more challenging roles he has had to sing. I consider that a compliment.

1. The Visitor: an Opera in Five Scenes with Prologue, Op. 58 (2000)

The Visitor is scored for Mezzo-Soprano, Lyric Baritone, Bass Baritone, Speaking Role and Chamber Orchestra. Hekja (Mezzo-Soprano) is the focus of the work along with her husband Haki (Lyric Baritone). They are featured in three of the five scenes of the opera.
