The Limestone Barrens Project is an international, interdisciplinary creative exchange which has asked visual artists working in lens-based media, writers and a composer to walk the limestone barrens of either the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, the Northern Peninsula of insular Newfoundland, or the Burren in Co.Clare, Ireland, and produce artwork based on the walks and briefings by scientists, conservationists and other researchers. The resulting artwork will form the basis of a touring exhibition, publication, and symposium on the limestone barrens. In tandem with the exhibition development, schoolchildren from the three regions will undertake several creative projects including storytelling, visual art, poetry and web design.
