The Panty Tree: Always in fashion, and always in style

     To represent a relationship between fact and fiction I wanted to look at ideas of narrative and the dual (sometimes ambiguous as well) meaning of words and phrases. I have chosen to tell the story of the panty tree. The function of the panty tree is to dry wet undergarments. It holds many and was designed to hang on the shower bar so as not to drip water all over the floor. The object creates a canopy much like a tree and it has branches, yet it is not an actual tree.
     It is a real thing that exists. This part of the representation is factual.
     The tree is represented in various seasons. This is because the purpose of the panty tree is to hang clothing. Clothing goes through seasons, often in conjunction with meteorological seasons. Certain colours are considered fashionable depending on what season you are in. There are also certain colours that have become associated with certain seasons because they are created by the season itself. For example, red, yellow, and orange are considered Fall colours because the leaves turn those colours during that time of the year.

And so the fabled panty tree blooms again….
