About Grenfell Campus Art Gallery



Grenfell Campus Art Gallery was established in 1988 in conjunction with the School of Fine Arts.

The Gallery is committed to providing a stimulating educational forum through diverse programming in the visual arts. This is primarily intended to address the needs of the students and faculty in the Visual Arts Program. The Gallery also serves Grenfell College faculty, staff and students, local public schools, and the community of Corner Brook and surrounding areas.

The Gallery's commitment to its role as an interpretive educational gallery is met through research, interpretation and exhibition of contemporary and historical art relevant to regional, national and international interests. We also maintain an active program of collection and conservation of art. The gallery has presented a variety of exhibitions since its inception, exhibitions which have featured the works of such Newfoundland-based artists as:

Marlene Creates (photo-based installation); Pam Hall (sculptural installation); Christopher Pratt (print retrospective); Barb Hunt, (textile, installation)David Morrish (photography); Marlene MacCallum (prints and drawings); Kent Jones (paintings and drawings), Pierre LeBlanc (photo-installation, Reed Weir (ceramic sculpture) and Percy Pieroway (painting in folk tradition).

Physical Description of the Gallery

The Gallery has 324.2 running feet of space with a 10 foot clearance from floor to ceiling. Walls can be erected to accommodate installations, and in some cases separate two simultaneous exhibitions. Click here for previous designs.

The media room is 15' by 13'5" and contains a projector, DVD player and projection screen.

It is equipped with a NAF-Slll fire protection system and is climate controlled at 20 degrees Celsius and 50% relative humidity.

In addition to Campus Enforcement security checks every two hours, the gallery is protected by a Honeywell Intelliguard 9000 security system. It is located in the School of Fine Arts Building, on the second floor.

Submissions should include the following:

Your current CV

An exhibition proposal

An artist’s statement

A CD with visual documentation of the proposed work

An image list

Gallery staff are always available to answer questions about the gallery and our exhibition programming. 

Sir Wilfred Grenfell College Art Gallery is located in the Fine Arts building on the second floor, off the atrium. Short-term parking is available in front of the gallery. Drop by the office for your parking card. The gallery is wheelchair accessible. Admission is free.
