Aquatic Center for Research and Education

The Aquatic Centre for Research and Education (ACRE) is dedicated to education, research and local employment and training for local area residents.

The hatchery, currently the location of our operations base, began in 1984 as an initiative of the North Shore Development Association, closed in 1992 because of a lack of support funds. The hatchery site was reactivated in 1997 with the development of ACRE, a consortium of eight different groups.
